What I DON’T Have & What I DO

As we approach the weekend, I want to take a minute to offer a little insight and gratefulness. This past week has been tough, I won’t get into details now, but it has helped put things into perspective for me and I thought that some of these things might help you too. So this post is a simple, lightweight look at what I have and what I don’t…

What I DON’T have:
6-pack abs

What I DO have:
My health. I have been feeling healthier and healthier everyday. My FitBit obsession keeps my legs toned and my mind motivated to work out. I can run, hop, skip and jump without being winded and today, that’s enough.

What I DON’T have:
A big-city address.

What I DO have:
An address 5 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. Our motto here: “We live where you vacation.” You can see the doggies enjoying our beach life in the featured image.

What I DON’T have:
A million dollars.

What I DO have:
A roof over my head. I love our home and our “big” (< 0.5 acres hehe) backyard that our animals can frolic in. We have beautiful magnolia trees, dogwood trees, hell, we even have a fig tree that bears the most amazing fruit.

What I DON’T have:
A closet full of designer clothes.

What I DO have:
A closet full of kick ass gym clothes and a few cute, recently purchased, LulaRoe pieces that I got from a good friend of mine (Check out her shopping group). I wear what’s comfortable, not what’s trending.

What I DON’T have:
A fancy car.

What I DO have:
Hampsters. Love my Kia Soul.

What I DON’T have:
Children.

What I DO have:
A choice. Lucky for me we live in a time and place where choosing whether or not to have children is ok either way. I don’t NEED to have kids to help with the farm or to increase the population. For now I have two fur-babies, Benjamin Franklin Maxwell the lab and Chloe the calico kitty cat and they are our family and for now, that is enough.

PSA to all women: Don’t ever try to put each other down for having or not having children. Everyone’s choice/situation is a personal one. Let us work on understanding each other, not putting each other down. And to those sassy people that think their opinion is the correct one, it’s none of your business anyway.

What I DON’T have:
A squad.

What I DO have:
A super handsome, supportive, best friend for a husband and friends and family that I love to the moon. We don’t all live in the same state or even see each other that often but we all do our part to stay connected. I love them and they love me and that’s what matters.

I hope this helps you look at your life in a new light the way this week has helped me take a look at mine. No matter what you don’t have (and think you need), just be grateful for what you do have and put some good vibes out there, you never know what you could end up “having”. Happy Friday to all!

Cheers,
AM-signature

  1. Excellent! ! As I sat on my tiny condo porch, drinking sweet beer from Talisman Brewery (local), scent filled breeze from all the blossoms , watching the full moon come up over Ogden Canyon . I had no questions, no needs – just sat in the glow.

  2. Love this reminder . It is very empowering to realize all that you have and thanks for the comical insight to what we might not.. . I treasure living life to the fullest and daily gratitude lists can lift a mood instantly . You are beautiful inside and out for sharing this !
